We are proud to report that CARIN was chosen to participate in a research called “Freehand Drawing, Static Slides, and the Impact on Social Presence in Online Classes.” The research was designed and carried out by Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA.

The use of Cisco WebEx and video conferences is of paramount importance for business and in education as well, however online presentations often lack authentic communication between learners and their instructors. The study that was published on the website of AECT, explored how the effective use of multimedia can enhance social presence in online classes by taking the conversation further around multimedia design and social presence by providing best practice for the design of online learning environments.

Researchers used a telepresence classroom equipped with a Cisco WebEx Room Kit Pro, a Wacom Cintiq Pro interactive writing tablet, and a TC&C CARIN365 Unified Recorder system to map the issue. The CARIN365 system provides flexibility beyond the default record capabilities by enabling to record a web conference and export many variations of that recording with a variety of video and content layouts to suit all preferences.
